| You save more with a premium membership first! but not a bad idea.

| Making this site mostly a "Pay For" seems like a VERY bad idea. Yes, it will get you some subscriptions now, but it will kill this site eventually. DIY projector is SUCH a small demographic that new people wont join in all that often. Without the free forums I don't think many people will hear about the idea of "DIY Projector", much less get enthused enough to want to subscribe. And then there is the fact that projector prices just keep going down. Add to the fact that DIYers are generally loath to put out money for information that can be found for free, and I believe your user base will slowly dwindle. I truly hope you reverse this decision before it is to late. |

| Can't wait to see the new changes! Can't wait to see them. Finally got the approval from the minister of finance. The topic of placement came up, and went to try and show her the dresser/cabinet style projectors since I think that will work best with our room layout. But no plogs = hard for her to visualize. |

| Hey Arcen, The plogs have been open for a while now. They are under a different section though (we will eventually be moving everything around). So just take a good look and you should find them. Cheers, Unconverted |

| heres what will make me buy both a membership and a full kit offered by diyprojectorkits.com: 1) a dlp light engine 2) small sized enclosure (plastic or metal preferred) 3) plasma or similar bright, small, efficient, cheap, easy to service light technology 4) instructions online for assembly for a visual idea of of something close to my ideal see this link: Theatre Maximus - DLP Projector w/ Brilliant Color Technology i realize this is far from the hard core DIY spirit that created this website, but as a tech i fiddle around with this stuff all day and i don't want to do it at home too. i want to be able to assemble/service it myself, beat commercial projectors for quality, and have a nice looking piece of kit. |

| Yea looked at that one but its not 1080i or 1080p. It is only 720p. How much are replacement bulbs and how long do they last. I upgraded my first projector to 1080p and now have trouble watching anything less. I also would not recommend anything less than 1080p for a large screen. That one will not come close to the 1080p projectors I got here...except in size. |

It's the controller that scales the image to 720p or 1080i and shows it on a 1024x768 resolution, might look a bit blurry perhaps ? edit: noticed they used the correct XGA resolution in the specs.

| my apologies to Capt. Video and joxer. in reading your replies i realized that i failed to include resolution specs in my wishlist. you both are correct, the example i provided above is of less than stellar resolution capabilities. i added it only to show visually what i thought a nice chassis would look like. smallish box, lightweight, screwed in top panel for easy access to internals, etc. i would certainly want something with a 1080p widescreen capability like the kit that already sold on this site. maybe i could add that as item number five in my post above? |

| [QUOTE=wade22874;15748]my apologies to Capt. Video and joxer. in reading your replies i realized that i failed to include resolution specs in my wishlist. LOL No problem. I have been looking at many of these prior to getting my second PJ from Tescorp. This one we use for outdoor movies at the beach. We currently run a 120" screen but this one could easily do 150". All my neighbors are HUGELY impressed and movie night under the stars has been a great hit. Like I said before...the only drawback to these is the size but we just pull it out and put it on a picnic table.....hook up the player and speakers and its movie time. |

| Not a very nice looking projector. no need to review the specs. When we do come out with a plastic projector it will easily put this to shame, we are not just going to put our name on a generic projector and then have problems. We are looking at smaller native 720p panels which will make the enclosures smaller. I am not even worried about "commercial" projectors, let them worry about us.
